Idk, a vampire and a mutant walk into a bar...
WHO: Haji & Lorna
WHAT: Roomies meeting
WHERE: 404; somewhere in error.
WHEN: Oct. 7
WARNINGS: Nothing yet?
It had only been a few hours since his arrival, he had taken time to wander the streets a bit, trying to get a feel for this strange city. Something was odd, but what could he do? He was unarmed, with no idea what year it was, where Saya was and what exactly was happening.
Sometime later once finding the Dorms again, he was given his room number, and reached back to lift the Cello case, before again remembering it was gone. Its familiar weight no longer offering silent comfort. Instead he walked with the number written on a sheet of paper, the person at the counter seemingly taking his silence as something it wasn't and writing the number down.
Upon reaching the room the door scanned him and opened, all he could do was blink a moment before quietly making his way inside. He wasn't sure what he expected but given how the city looked the room looked rather spartan. The tall pale one made his way inside, his dark blue eyes shifting around seeming to realize he was not living alone here. Turning to look around once more without moving very far from the center of the room, mostly moving his eyes alone.
Its been so long since he had a place deemed his that he was almost a little lost in it.

"It is fine." He spoke, with almost an antiquated timbre to him. "I should not have been guard." Which was only a little bit of a lie, a century on edge leaves one forever a little paranoid. "So it does." He spoke up after a second, reminding himself no one knows him here. He must use his words as difficult as it felt to speak up somedays. "You may call me Haji. I do promise not to be a bother to you, as best I can."
no subject
"Trust me, you can't be anymore of a bother than some of the kids I lived with back in my place." It wasn't a lie. Though, there was definitely something a bit odd about this guy. Something that just gave off that vibe of oldness. After a second she tentatively reached her hand out. "Polaris. It's nice to meet you."
no subject
At first he lifted the bandaged up hand before quickly correcting himself and shaking with the other, his non-dominate hand. His hand warm, and grip fair. "Like Ursa Minor?" He knew stars, he knew the old meanings of following the North Star. Idly wondering if it was a nickname or her birth name. After the shake he let go, reaching up to push a bit of his long bangs back behind his ear. "Do you have any rules, Polaris?"
no subject
She squeezed his hand in a firm shake and then pulled back to fold both arms across her chest. "Yeah, like Ursa Minor. It's something I got from my dad." Which probably served as an unintentional subtle hint that it was just a code-name. Another eyebrow arched in confusion at the question. "Rules?"
no subject
Another nod given to the confirmation of her name, his arms falling back to his sides. Saya was probably asleep back in Okinawa, Kai and Diva's girls probably back there to... and here he was for the first time in so long with no purpose. He needed to figure out how to live here but also just how to live again. "I see." He understood more like, idly wondering if her father was someone important, but didn't voice it.
"If we are to share a living space, surely you have rules you would wish other's to follow." He explained adding, "I have none." He really didn't, he doubted he would be here a lot, he'd probably be wrong there.
no subject
"If you have none then what makes you so sure I must have some?" It's an innocent question, though she does look thoughtful. There's never been a moment where she's had to think of rules she might have for living with a stranger. She's never been one to follow rules and she's even less inclined to actually think of any for others to follow.
"Don't hold it against me if I accidentally bend any metal in my sleep. Hows that for a rule?"
no subject
"...I assumed..." He started but stopped. He looked almost amused a split second before finally deciding, yeah he wants to know.
"...Bending metal in your sleep?"
no subject
"Only happens sometimes." She shrugged and a tiny bit of trepidation leaked into her voice. "It's kinda what I do." She moved her hand up and a green mist twisted around her fingers. "I can manipulate metal. Sometimes I have a bad dream and things move around. So that's my only rule. Don't get too mad at me if it happens."
no subject
His eyes widened only a bit before seemingly he accepted it and nodded. "I will not get mad, there is nothing about that worthy of anger." He added feeling best to clarify, a breath's moment later he inquired. "If you do start to move things in your sleep, do you wish to be awoken?" He woke Saya up from quite a few bad dreams and if she might be a danger in her sleep it seemed like a good idea to ask. "I should add, speaking of night, once i find where they have hidden my cello... I tend to play at night, I do hope that wont be an issue." He figured it was hidden somewhere and he was going to find it if it was.
no subject
"Can't guarantee your safety if you try." Marcos had usually been the one to wake her up when she lived with the mutant underground. After she'd left that had been one of the comforts she'd ended up missing the most. She shook her head and gave him a lopsided grin. "I should probably be embarrassed admitting I've wrecked things because of nightmares before." But she wasn't. She quirked an eyebrow at his addition.
"Can't imagine why that would be an issue to anyone. I don't think I've ever cello in person."
no subject
"There is no reason to be embaressed. And put your mind to ease. You will not hurt me." It didn't sound like ego, more stating fact. Granted, sure it would hurt, probably like hell, but he walks off so much that he's not really bothered by it. "... Well, more..." How did he even explain it? Should he even explain it? No, she shared what was clearly not something told to everyone. "...I am not human." He felt was a good start. "Only one thing can kill me and it is not here." Hell... could anything kill him now with Diva dead? That was an unwelcomed thought.
"it is more often than not. And once I find it, I will play for you if you wish." He was gonna find it if it was here. Some people have security blankets, he has a coffin shaped cello case. Close enough.
no subject
"What are you then?" Not a mutant. At least there was no reason to think he was one. John was hard to hurt, but there were still a lot of things that could kill him. Same for most mutants she had information on. Maybe she shouldn't' have asked so directly. Maybe she should apologize for it. Except he'd offered himself, maybe as an exchange for what she'd told him. Either way she'd already asked directly, there was no reason to go back on the directness of it now.
"I'd like to hear if you find it. If you can't maybe there's a replacement here somewhere."
no subject
"A chevalier." He answered honestly. Realizing that maybe that may not be a thing in her world, or even the fact that most of his own world has no idea he took a breath. "Something akin to the fictional vampires, but also more." He spoke, feeling just a bit odd as he had never really had to explain it before. That seemed the best way, He remembered seeing the old Bela Lugosi Dracula when it first came out. While Saya was in one of her long sleeps. Its the closest he could think of at the moment.
"I have already applied to work at the cities orchestra. So if I can not regain my own, I can surely show you with whatever instrument they have."
no subject
"What's more than a fictional vampire? Not a sparkling one, right?" Just promise her there's no sparkling and she'll be fine. There's still a huge part of her that wonders how the sparkling vampire became a thing at all.
She quirks her head to one side and rolls a shoulder. "You must be pretty passionate your music." Or maybe he's just dedicated. It's not like she knows him well enough to be able to tell yet.
no subject
"...Sparkling?" He asked confused. "No, I do not sparkle..." He looked perplexed, the one mofo whose probably never even heard of Twilight at all. "No, I am simply a creature that lives on blood, and needs neither sleep nor food to function. It is my duty to follow the wishes of my mistress, but she is not here." A quiet 'I don't know what to do' was there, but he figured just pretend it was another hibernation.
He nodded again to her observation, almost not speaking but, again, she doesn't know him so it feels wrong. "It helps me feel close to her, even when she is far away." Love sick puppy.
no subject
"Have you thought about how you'll get blood here?" It doesn't seem like something they'd just provide him in a convenient pouch with a straw. Or maybe they actually did. What did she know about things like that?
"She sounds very important to you." And she can definitely understand missing someone you're a love sick puppy for. Marcos was that particular individual for her and she it'd be a lie if she claimed she knew what she'd do without him. "Guess you get to follow your own wishes now."
no subject
"I confess I have not considered it yet, but I am also not truly concerned about it. I do not have to feed often, I will figure it out when the time comes." More like he probably wont. They also kind of did but Haji had no idea. And probably still wouldn't take it.
"She is indeed." He replied, taking not to lean against the wall to cross his arms. Standing around was fine but he preferred to lean when danger wasn't around. "If only I knew what those were..." It was almost sarcastic but without any bite. "And what of you? Is there someone your missing as well?"
no subject
"Don't know what your own wishes are?" She tilts her head and folds her arms across her chest. There's a curiosity in her tone and perhaps a slight hint of judgement. It's not judgement that she's aiming at him in particular though, just at what kind of situation could have potentially born him not knowing his own wishes or desires. "There are a few people. Marcos," she smiles. "I'd just kind of moved back in. Now I'm here."
no subject
"I have never truely been asked my desires, my sole purpose is to serve Saya and fight Chiropterans." He admitted before he took a breath and added. "I would think I have time now to find wishes of my own." Unless Saya showed up, then he's back to following her. "That sounds quiet troublesome."
no subject
"Doesn't seem like a fair purpose to you. Especially if it left you not knowing what you want." There's a hint of sympathy in her expression as she looks over at him. "I knew someone like that. She'd been made for a specific purpose and never even thought to look outside that for what she wanted. I guess now she's in the same boat you're in." It's definitely not an easy position to be in if Esme's struggles were anything to go by. "My life is a series of troublesome moments." She tilts her head and one side of her mouth curls into a wry smile. "Mostly caused by my own shit choices."
