Idk, a vampire and a mutant walk into a bar...

WHO: Haji & Lorna
WHAT: Roomies meeting
WHERE: 404; somewhere in error.
WHEN: Oct. 7
WARNINGS: Nothing yet?

It had only been a few hours since his arrival, he had taken time to wander the streets a bit, trying to get a feel for this strange city. Something was odd, but what could he do? He was unarmed, with no idea what year it was, where Saya was and what exactly was happening.

Sometime later once finding the Dorms again, he was given his room number, and reached back to lift the Cello case, before again remembering it was gone. Its familiar weight no longer offering silent comfort. Instead he walked with the number written on a sheet of paper, the person at the counter seemingly taking his silence as something it wasn't and writing the number down.

Upon reaching the room the door scanned him and opened, all he could do was blink a moment before quietly making his way inside. He wasn't sure what he expected but given how the city looked the room looked rather spartan. The tall pale one made his way inside, his dark blue eyes shifting around seeming to realize he was not living alone here. Turning to look around once more without moving very far from the center of the room, mostly moving his eyes alone.

Its been so long since he had a place deemed his that he was almost a little lost in it.

For the first time in a very long time Lorna had actually thought something through before acting. Instead of lashing out upon her arrival she'd managed to hold herself back and just listen. It wasn't really a miracle. The last few days of her life had been beyond exhausting and she was just plain drained. Even if she hadn't had the presence of mind to think before she acted, she probably wouldn't have been able to get up the energy to do anything. Everything about this place, and the explanation for why they were here, made her skin crawl for very personal reasons.

It was for those reasons that she went straight to the Dorms rather than around to explore. If the AI was to be believed she was going to be stuck here for a while. There'd be time for looking around this place. The first thing she wanted to do was to get a solid lay of where she'd be staying and the people there. And maybe a nap. That might be nice. A calm nap without concerns about who was hunting her or what was going to go wrong next. Now that would be a real miracle.

She'd gotten to the room a bit before Haji and had sat down on the bed briefly, leaving the bed visibly disturbed, before deciding get a full look at the building itself. Once she'd investigated enough for her liking she went back to the room. She opened the door to Haji looking around.

"Uh, hope I'm not interrupting anything," she said with a hint of a smirk on her lips.

Lorna tilted her head to one side and her muscles tensed up at his reaction. After he spoke she let herself relax slightly and raised an eyebrow at him.

"Sorry for startling you," she said with a lopsided smirk. "And yeah, looks like we're roomies." Which was awkward to say the least. She was used to sharing close quarters with people back home but she'd always gotten her own room. Perks of being a leader. Here though, she wasn't anything special. There were perks to that, but having a roommate didn't seem like it was going to be one of those perks. Then again maybe she'd be wrong. Lately she'd been wrong about a lot of shit.

"Better to be on guard than stabbed in the back by your new roommate," her tone was laced with sarcasm and just a hint that maybe she was just joking there. She was more than just a little familiar with being paranoid and on edge. It was practically her way of life and had been for as long as she could remember.

"Trust me, you can't be anymore of a bother than some of the kids I lived with back in my place." It wasn't a lie. Though, there was definitely something a bit odd about this guy. Something that just gave off that vibe of oldness. After a second she tentatively reached her hand out. "Polaris. It's nice to meet you."

"You'd be fine with being stabbed?" He sounded like John who seemed to think he was immortal rather than just supernaturally durable. Maybe that was the case for him. Or maybe it was something else.

She squeezed his hand in a firm shake and then pulled back to fold both arms across her chest. "Yeah, like Ursa Minor. It's something I got from my dad." Which probably served as an unintentional subtle hint that it was just a code-name. Another eyebrow arched in confusion at the question. "Rules?"

"So have I. Doesn't mean I'd jump at the chance to have it happen." Her tones light, almost bordering on teasing. There's no reason to not at least try to play nice with someone she's going to be sharing a room with.

"If you have none then what makes you so sure I must have some?" It's an innocent question, though she does look thoughtful. There's never been a moment where she's had to think of rules she might have for living with a stranger. She's never been one to follow rules and she's even less inclined to actually think of any for others to follow.

"Don't hold it against me if I accidentally bend any metal in my sleep. Hows that for a rule?"

She flashed a smirk. "You know what they say about assuming." There was clear hesitation before she decided how to go about elaborating. To her there was a clear danger in being upfront with someone about who and what she was. In her world they would react to the information very badly. Usually with a lot of violence. At the same time she wanted to know how he'd react, especially if they were actually going to be living together.

"Only happens sometimes." She shrugged and a tiny bit of trepidation leaked into her voice. "It's kinda what I do." She moved her hand up and a green mist twisted around her fingers. "I can manipulate metal. Sometimes I have a bad dream and things move around. So that's my only rule. Don't get too mad at me if it happens."

"You'd be surprised how mad someone gets when you accidentally wreck their thousand dollar bed post." Maybe they just shouldn't have spent thousands on bed posts in the first place.

"Can't guarantee your safety if you try." Marcos had usually been the one to wake her up when she lived with the mutant underground. After she'd left that had been one of the comforts she'd ended up missing the most. She shook her head and gave him a lopsided grin. "I should probably be embarrassed admitting I've wrecked things because of nightmares before." But she wasn't. She quirked an eyebrow at his addition.

"Can't imagine why that would be an issue to anyone. I don't think I've ever cello in person."

"Same look I had about it." She'd had all the same questions going through her mind when it'd happen. Who would recruit someone whose entire power revolves around manipulating metal into a room with beds with metal posts? It was the true question of the century.

"What are you then?" Not a mutant. At least there was no reason to think he was one. John was hard to hurt, but there were still a lot of things that could kill him. Same for most mutants she had information on. Maybe she shouldn't' have asked so directly. Maybe she should apologize for it. Except he'd offered himself, maybe as an exchange for what she'd told him. Either way she'd already asked directly, there was no reason to go back on the directness of it now.

"I'd like to hear if you find it. If you can't maybe there's a replacement here somewhere."

"Chevalier..." She repeats what he says with a slightly inquisitive tone. It's not a word she's ever heard connected with vampires but he had said something more.

"What's more than a fictional vampire? Not a sparkling one, right?" Just promise her there's no sparkling and she'll be fine. There's still a huge part of her that wonders how the sparkling vampire became a thing at all.

She quirks her head to one side and rolls a shoulder. "You must be pretty passionate your music." Or maybe he's just dedicated. It's not like she knows him well enough to be able to tell yet.

"That's a relief. I was really worried about the sparkling for a moment there." She tossed him a quick smirk but didn't elaborate further on the Twilight reference. That would mean acknowledging she'd remembered information about that horrible series and she wasn't willing to do that.

"Have you thought about how you'll get blood here?" It doesn't seem like something they'd just provide him in a convenient pouch with a straw. Or maybe they actually did. What did she know about things like that?

"She sounds very important to you." And she can definitely understand missing someone you're a love sick puppy for. Marcos was that particular individual for her and she it'd be a lie if she claimed she knew what she'd do without him. "Guess you get to follow your own wishes now."

"How long is not often?" When the time comes seems like a terrible plan, but it's not like she's ever been great at planing things out. In fact she's known for the opposite. Still, she's pretty curious about what he'll do if he ends up needing that.

"Don't know what your own wishes are?" She tilts her head and folds her arms across her chest. There's a curiosity in her tone and perhaps a slight hint of judgement. It's not judgement that she's aiming at him in particular though, just at what kind of situation could have potentially born him not knowing his own wishes or desires. "There are a few people. Marcos," she smiles. "I'd just kind of moved back in. Now I'm here."

"Lets hope you don't get injured then, right?" She shrugs and rolls her shoulders. "But if you need some help let me know." The words come out before she can think about the overall implications of that. All she considers is the fact that they're roommates and he's not human. Being roommates she figures it's better if he's not left to reenact some terrible vampire movie. She's not going to admit it but she's seen some of those movies. She knows how they go. The bigger part of it though is just the fact that he's not human. That fact alone makes her feel some sort of strange camaraderie with him. Offering immediate help to someone just because they're not human has been a consistent source of trouble for her. Unfortunately, Lorna doesn't learn lessons very easily. Or ever.

"Doesn't seem like a fair purpose to you. Especially if it left you not knowing what you want." There's a hint of sympathy in her expression as she looks over at him. "I knew someone like that. She'd been made for a specific purpose and never even thought to look outside that for what she wanted. I guess now she's in the same boat you're in." It's definitely not an easy position to be in if Esme's struggles were anything to go by. "My life is a series of troublesome moments." She tilts her head and one side of her mouth curls into a wry smile. "Mostly caused by my own shit choices."
