Look at all of these bright, shining new faces! There’s even a few less bright, less shining faces - maybe even a few folks without faces - but hey, this city welcomes all types. Chances are, if you’ve just arrived, you're seeing some pretty crazy things, unless you're used to an eye-blinding amount of neon, robots, weird-ass technology, magic, and an omnipresent police force...and hey, if you are, congrats, you're gonna settle in juuuuust fine. But for the rest of you, the Head knows this has gotta be pretty overwhelming, right?

Hello, new citizens of Dualis,
and welcome to your monthly Network Adjacency Protocol~!

NAPs are a monthly community networking event similar to the Earth concept of speed dating! Two citizens (new arrivals and old hands alike) are placed at a table together with a handy cue card of queries to help break the proverbial ice. Ask queries and receive results, or ignore the card and yeet yourself straight into a brand new friendship! But don't be too shy, you've only got ten minutes together, and if you just sit in silence for the whole ten, the Network Admins are likely to come supervise and try to repair the uplink through a mild shock to the ol' central nervous system. You might find yourself saying all sorts of unintended facts about yourself if that happens...probably better to just make friends, right? Who doesn’t like friends?!

The weather outside may be taking a turn toward chilly, but you can still get your swim on during this month’s NAPs, held at the Dualis Oasis, an indoor temperature-controlled aquatic amusement park with giant slides, swimming pools, and lazy winding float rivers. Appropriate swimming gear is required for entry to this part of the park, but there are a number of shops just outside that will gladly sell you swimwear and accessories.

For those of you who wish to avoid a humid environment or just hate fun, a dehumidified lounge and restaurant offer quieter, dryer spaces for chatting and snacking. The actual speed-friending itself is in progress here, but you’re welcome to stick around and continue conversations with your new friends.

So c’mon, what are you waiting for? Just dive right in for fun and friendship - the water’s fine, fine, fine, just like everything else in this fair city. But hey, remember to play safe. No running!

1. Lazy River

[Ah, why the fuck not? Not like there's anything else going on. And a break sounds absolutely heavensent right now. Even if it is in the middle of whatever's going on. Nothing's blowing up so that's already an improvement over her recent life?

Might as well take a shot, at least. And that means she's wearing a swimsuit that's basically her hero clothes in swimsuit form (what a lucky find), floating in a tube down a manmade river because fuck it. That's a good enough reason, right?

But there is a small-ish problem.]

I can't decide if I'm actually relaxing or just too tired to be worried.

2. Pool

Eventually, Domino is done with the river (there's only so many times somebody can float in a circle before they get bored and she'd passed that threshold about two hours ago. Not that she changes her activity by much, moving from lounging in a tube on the river to a beach chair next to the pool for some "sun." Because that totally counts. At least it's dry?

And it lets her get a better view of the other people wandering around without seeming like a creep. Does people-watching count as creepy nowadays? It kind of feels like it would. But it's so interesting.

That excuse would smooth everything over, right?

[Wanda enjoyed the lazy river. She'd classify it as relaxing though she didn't really consider herself a relaxed person. Her brain rarely slowed down enough for her to having this kind of fun. There is always a world to save and this city doesn't feel all that much different.

She turns when she hears a voice at a nearby floating inner-tube and hummed softly.]

Being too tired can be relaxing. Like a forced vacation.

[Like many others she's wearing a dark maroon bathing suit that fit the theme.]

Never really liked being forced to do anything. [There's got to be some other reason for all this.]

[Wanda flashes her a small smile.]

Me neither.

But I have a feeling we'll learn more as time goes on.

Oh, we will, I just don't think we'll like it.

Erik has spent no time in the pool. If he swims, he wants to swim laps. Or in deep water. Something strenuous, which a lazy river or the other waterpark attractions will not provide. He's still wearing a swimsuit, because he wants to be a good sport.

He notices her, and she looks interesting, so he takes advantage of the vacant lounge next to her and lounges upon it. "You're new." He says, because he has made a point of learning the faces of all the transplants, even if he hasn't found out all of their names. "Getting a lay of the land?"

"Aw, how'd you know? Is there like a sign or something?" An... invisible one. Because why not at this point? There's really not anything she's going to put past whatever's going on here until she knows a little more. Or whatever. She's kind of feeling more on the side of "you'll never learn anything worth knowing," but who knows, maybe she'll get lucky.

She eyes the man up and down for a moment, more curious than anything. Strangers and all.

"Guess so. Better now while it's all...non-threatening. Ish."
