WHO: All y’all!
WHAT: Your regularly scheduled NAPs event for the month
WHERE: Fort Pillowtown
WHEN: Oct. 7-10
WARNINGS: Please use these if applicable!
Look at all of these bright, shining new faces! There’s even a few less bright, less shining faces - maybe even a few folks without faces - but hey, this city welcomes all types. Chances are, if you’ve just arrived, you're seeing some pretty crazy things, unless you're used to an eye-blinding amount of neon, robots, weird-ass technology, magic, and an omnipresent police force...and hey, if you are, congrats, you're gonna settle in juuuuust fine. But for the rest of you, the Head knows this has gotta be pretty overwhelming, right?
Well, since your quaint individual processing units are probably having a hard time, why not link up with another one? By which the Head means...
Hello, new citizens of Dualis,
and welcome to your monthly Network Adjacency Protocol~!
NAPs are a monthly community networking event similar to the Earth concept of speed dating! Two citizens (new arrivals and old hands alike) are placed at a table together with a handy cue card of queries to help break the proverbial ice. Ask queries and receive results, or ignore the card and yeet yourself straight into a brand new friendship! But don't be too shy, you've only got ten minutes together, and if you just sit in silence for the whole ten, the Network Admins are likely to come supervise and try to repair the uplink through a mild shock to the ol' central nervous system. You might find yourself saying all sorts of unintended facts about yourself if that happens...probably better to just make friends, right? Who doesn’t like friends?!
This month’s event is held at a new, super-comfy all-ages establishment called Fort Pillowtown. As the name suggests, it’s a large indoor space filled wall to wall with permanent pillowforts. There are a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, with each individual fort constructed of gauzy hanging sheets, strings of soft lights, warm blankets, plush toys, a mini television with on-screen menu for choosing movies to watch and video games to play, and yes, lots and lots of pillows. Snacks and drinks of all sorts are available for purchase, as are whimsical onesies and comfy slippers to wear. Board and card game sets are also available to borrow or buy. Sounds like a dream, right?
So pull up a pillow pile, get to know your new neighbors, and enjoy a well-earned and comfy chill-out session. And hey, if you end up napping at NAPs, rest assured that it’s absolutely allowed.

Just today. Not that long ago. He kept saying he doesn't remember anything, that he hasn't done any of what we remember yet. He just remembers up to the reactor, after he told me to wait outside.
[ she shakes her head again, like she's shaking off a terrible memory. ]
I don't know if I believe him, but... I don't trust him.
no subject
But no. She looks fine. On the outside, at least. Inside- no. Not even close.]
That's what Zack said.
[It's too little, too late. As he'd told Zack, it didn't matter. It didn't make Nibelheim, the death of Tifa's father, the death of all of the townspeople, and the death of his mother go away. It didn't change anything.]
... He thinks punishing him isn't right. And he said he's going to try and help him, instead.
[Something he wasn't on board with. Sorry, bestie.]
Even if he's telling the truth, and alternate times are something the Head can pull people from, nothing'll change the fact that when he gets back, he'll lose it.

or the death of aerith from tifa's.
that sort of thing isn't just forgiven.
she bows her head, holding onto her composure as best she can, even if she feels like the world is crumbling around her yet again. ]
I can't... [ can't forgive him, can't try to help, can't cope. ] There's no telling if he'll keep his head together here or how long it'll be before he loses it and we have another Nibelheim incident on our hands.
[ and if they knew of the possibility and stood aside and did nothing to prevent it, if the exact same thing happened again and all these people were slaughtered just like their hometown...? how could they live with themselves?
she bites her lower lip. she's frightened and doesn't know how to say it. ]

It makes him move. Tentatively, he presses his shoulder against hers, extending his arm to move around her narrow shoulders. And even now- where no-one can see them, where for all anyone knows, it could be anyone in here, he's embarrassed about it. But the only sign of that is the fact his head is pointing away.
Anyway...]
If he does, it's the Head's problem. At least it's not happening at home. All I care about is keeping him away from you.

so she leans against his shoulder, just enough to tell him she appreciates it without being too obvious about it. his presence helps ground her, allows her to take a few deep breaths to gather herself. ]
I'll be okay, Cloud, [ she says, even though they both know she wouldn't be okay if she had to fight sephiroth alone. but she has to be strong. for cloud's sake, as much as her own. ] I guess we just have to keep an eye on him, warn everyone we know.
[ she sighs, the tired sigh of someone who has been through too much far too often. ]
Maybe he'll surprise us... I just don't want to take any chances.
[ she still remembers aerith, after all. ]
no subject
For him... it's good to know someone feels the same as him. That he's not blowing everything out of proportion.]
I want you to stay at the warehouse for a while. Seifer... knows what's happening. He'll make sure you're okay.
[And.]
I'll be there too. I just need to watch out for Zack.
no subject
and for all that she knows cloud wants to keep her safe in particular, she might just be able to convince herself that he just wants to keep his important people close by.
so she nods in response, pushing aside how off balance that one particular name has her feeling. ]
Don't be a stranger, Cloud, [ she says gently. ] If you need a hand, you know where I'll be.
[ because that's how they have always worked. if one of them needs the other for anything, all they have to do is ask. ]
