sheets all on the floor just like an ocean ...

WHO: All y’all!
WHAT: Your regularly scheduled NAPs event for the month
WHERE: Fort Pillowtown
WHEN: Oct. 7-10
WARNINGS: Please use these if applicable!

Look at all of these bright, shining new faces! There’s even a few less bright, less shining faces - maybe even a few folks without faces - but hey, this city welcomes all types. Chances are, if you’ve just arrived, you're seeing some pretty crazy things, unless you're used to an eye-blinding amount of neon, robots, weird-ass technology, magic, and an omnipresent police force...and hey, if you are, congrats, you're gonna settle in juuuuust fine. But for the rest of you, the Head knows this has gotta be pretty overwhelming, right?

Well, since your quaint individual processing units are probably having a hard time, why not link up with another one? By which the Head means...

Hello, new citizens of Dualis,
and welcome to your monthly Network Adjacency Protocol~!

NAPs are a monthly community networking event similar to the Earth concept of speed dating! Two citizens (new arrivals and old hands alike) are placed at a table together with a handy cue card of queries to help break the proverbial ice. Ask queries and receive results, or ignore the card and yeet yourself straight into a brand new friendship! But don't be too shy, you've only got ten minutes together, and if you just sit in silence for the whole ten, the Network Admins are likely to come supervise and try to repair the uplink through a mild shock to the ol' central nervous system. You might find yourself saying all sorts of unintended facts about yourself if that happens...probably better to just make friends, right? Who doesn’t like friends?!

This month’s event is held at a new, super-comfy all-ages establishment called Fort Pillowtown. As the name suggests, it’s a large indoor space filled wall to wall with permanent pillowforts. There are a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, with each individual fort constructed of gauzy hanging sheets, strings of soft lights, warm blankets, plush toys, a mini television with on-screen menu for choosing movies to watch and video games to play, and yes, lots and lots of pillows. Snacks and drinks of all sorts are available for purchase, as are whimsical onesies and comfy slippers to wear. Board and card game sets are also available to borrow or buy. Sounds like a dream, right?

So pull up a pillow pile, get to know your new neighbors, and enjoy a well-earned and comfy chill-out session. And hey, if you end up napping at NAPs, rest assured that it’s absolutely allowed.

Tifa isn't here because she wants to be.

Well, she's here at the NAPs event because she thought it would be a good opportunity to meet more of the residents. The moment she spots Sephiroth, her blood runs ice cold and everything seems to freeze. For a moment, all she can see is Nibelheim, with Sephiroth turning around in the fiery chaos, beckoning, smirking, caring nothing for the lives he'd just ended and the town he wiped off the map. Then her mind remembers Aerith, her friend kneeling in prayer just before Sephiroth's blade sliced right through her, just like he had done so many others.

She can't let that happen again and she knows what Cloud's response will be when he hears that Sephiroth has been brought here. Angry tears prick the corners of her eyes, white hot rage barely held back at his words. How can he, of all people, say that to her? She doesn't attack, mostly because she's not stupid and she knows he can kill her without blinking in a solo fight, but she lifts her fists to a defensive position, not about to let him catch her off guard.

"How can you say that?!" she snaps back. "After everything you've done, how can you say that to me?!"

He'll accept her being defensive. He's really not in the mood to be attacked again right now, and it wouldn't be fair to the establishment or the other guests. Anger, at least, he knows how to bear.

Her expression is a dark reminder of the Wutai War - a mother glaring at him the same way after the loss of her family by his hand. He calmly shuts his eyes to block out the memory as the woman within it attacks.

What had he done?

He looks at her again. Calm, distant, devoid of the megalomania she's familiar with by now.

"I haven't done what you remember. I was brought here before I entered the reactor, after I told you to wait outside."

"How?"

It's the first thing out of her mouth, a single word blurted out before she can stop herself. None of them know the answer to that. If they did, they'd all be home right now. But that one word is an echo of the confusion in her mind. She knows that memory differences can happen here. There's enough between just her, Cloud, and Vincent to write a book about. But this just seems... cruel.

And it's not like he hasn't tried to fool them before.

She shifts, unwilling to back down just yet, but confused, hesitant, afraid.

"The reactor? That was..." Years ago. He can probably tell just by the outfit she's wearing that she's a few years older. "I can't trust you. Cloud probably won't, either."

She can't ask Sephiroth to leave them alone, couldn't trust him to keep his word even if he agrees. It's so complicated and full of too much pain to bear.

"Unknown," he answers simply. He's barely aware of the basics of this place. Her hesitation and fear is at least familiar enough to handle. Not like he has a choice. The part of him that can only guess at what happened feels like he owes her that much.

He can tell she's older. The difference isn't as remarkable as the one he experienced with Cloud but it's still there.

"I don't expect you to." He won't say that Cloud already attacked him or that he retaliated. If she doesn't already know, she'll have to find out for herself. "I'll leave you both alone if you do the same."

She will find out sooner or later about Cloud attacking him. For most situations, she would likely try to talk Cloud down, find out why he reacted that way and try to see if there's a way to live at least alongside, if not in harmony. But Sephiroth is a unique case, one that Tifa feels very strongly about. Nothing can ever make up for what happened, in their hometown or to Aerith. This is one person Tifa will never be able to forgive.

Leaving each other alone seems like the best course of action to Tifa. She can't guarantee that she or Cloud won't want to keep an eye on him, but they can at least agree not to antagonize each other. Until he starts murdering people again.

So she nods in response. "Okay. We can do that."

This is about all she can offer to him now, though, and unless he decides to try to hold her down or say something else, she'll turn to make a hasty retreat.
