A "vampire" arrives

a. dormitories

[After all he'd seen, 'this can't be happening' wasn't something he was going to entertain with a ponder. He followed the directions given by the statues and the strange "Head". Normally, he would have explored this strange new place in which he's found himself, but with all the unknowns, he opted for compliance, at least until he's found this dormitory room which was to double as his base of operations while he figured out the real purpose behind his being brought here. While he wasn't a scientist, Vincent had spent enough time around them to know the collection and analysis of DNA was rarely a good thing, especially when performed under such questionable circumstances.

He nods to the concierge when he's provided his key and network device, frowning down at it briefly before slipping it into the pocket and taking a look around the place. It was so...mundane...He didn't make an effort to appear inconspicuous in his leathers and red cape, knowing his brass claw stood out all on its own, but he doesn't immediately proceed upstairs, instead opting to take up a position near a wall and watch those who came and went.]


b. central square park | ota

[After getting to know the dormitories, he sets out to get to know his surroundings. His Turk training never really left, and getting a lay of the land, and by extension, the city, was pivotal to understanding where he's been taken. As he moves through the lush setting, a growing sense of unease grasped him as he made notes mentally:

There were no woodland creatures. The sounds, or the lack thereof, were unsettling and his hand was never far from the grip of his handgun. Because of the silence, the statues had a looming effect and his crimson gaze shifted around warily. It...might not be a good idea to sneak up on the guy.]


c. central square park | closed to Thane

Vincent approved of the selection of the Central Square Park. It was, as its name implied, centrally located but also public. They may not have privacy, but they would have the security of the location. Old habits die hard, and being a bodyguard had been ingrained in him for a very young age. He waited for the Drell near a bench, though he himself was leaning against a nearby statue, arms crossed. He'd never seen another of Tannor's race in Dualis. He'd be difficult to miss.]

That would be something to find out. [ Something that could actually be important to find out. ] I would like to know that. [ So she'd have to look into it. She filed that away and then looked around. ] Is this where you're staying too?

[chaosvessel]

[He inclines his head in a nod, at both her observations.] The roof sounds like a good place to watch it, and...I think we all do.

[hellofishies]

Yes. It's where I usually go back home. Roofs. [ They were good places to look out reach out. The roof had been where she always went to expand her powers and remote view. She'd tried so hard to see if she could figure out how far the damage went that they'd caused. Each time all she could see though was how far it was spreading. She shook her head out of her thoughts. ]

Oh yes. Maybe we all do. What room?

Me too. [He looks her over again. Strange, but with an otherworldly beauty to her, haunted and...haunting. He shakes his head and looks down at the key he'd been provided.]

[ She blinked and then looked down at her key and then at him. Then, without the slightest hesitation, she wrapped her arms around his neck in a quick hug. ]

We're roommates then!

[chaosvessel]

[He stiffens at her touch but doesn't pull away.]

...It does?

[hellofishies]

Yup! [ She pulls back in a full grin. ] That's my room number too. I'm Arkady!

[chaosvessel]

Vincent. [He's not sure how this is going to work out, but it is what it is.] Should we...go see our room, then?

[hellofishies]

Hello, Vincent! I like that name. It's nice. [ She nods and claps her hands together. ] Yes, lets go! [ And she's just gonna start off that way expecting him to follow. ]

[chaosvessel]

[Her response gives him pause and he blinks slightly. His name was...nice?] It's...common. Arkady is unique. It...suits you.

[He nods and follows after her.]

[hellofishies]

[ She turns back her head and grins. ] Thank you! People don't usually just call me unique. That's a nice way to put it

[chaosvessel]

[He frowned at that.]

...what do they usually call you?

[hellofishies]

[ She shrugged. When she spoke there was just a hint of sadness in her voice. Sometimes it hurt that even her friends considered her to far gone. They weren't wrong. It'd been her fault after all. But sometimes things hurt anyway. Even right things. ] Acid causality. Space case. Or just crazy.

[chaosvessel]

You don't strike me as crazy.

[It was an honest statement, like anything else he says. Vincent isn't one to mince words or pretty things up.]

[hellofishies]

Oh I am. [ She laughs a light melodic little laugh. ] But everyone's a bit crazy, aren't they?

[chaosvessel]

[He frowns at that response.]

I think that depends on how you define crazy.

[hellofishies]

[ She looks behind her at him and stops to open the door to their new shared dorm. ] How do you define crazy?

[chaosvessel]

[Until the very moment she'd asked, he'd thought he knew, now he had to think about it for a moment, and he did, looking back over his experiences with madness before taking a breath.]

Madness is being consumed so completely by something it becomes your sole focus, and nothing else, nothing else matters but that goal.

[hellofishies]

I know someone like that. [ A tiny hint of regret enters into her voice and she glances down for a splint second. ] And maybe I was mad once if that's what it is. [ And then they'd broken the world. ]

[chaosvessel]

[He didn't know what she meant, not really, but he could follow slightly at least. He frowned at her tone, too. Everyone made mistakes. It was what they chose to do with those mistakes that mattered.]

You aren't mad.

[hellofishies]

Maybe everyone's a little mad. [ She smiles very gently at him. ] That's kind of you to say to a stranger.

[chaosvessel]

[He does smile then, bittersweet.]

You remind me of someone. She wasn't mad. She was...warm when things were bleak and supportive even when she herself had lost hope.

[hellofishies]

[ She lets out a light giggle. ]

You're sweet. She sounds like a much more lovely person than me.

[chaosvessel]

[By this point, they were approaching their, apparently, shared room.]

I don't think you give yourself enough credit.

[hellofishies]

[ She dramatically opens the door and sweeps her arm forward gesturing for him to in first. ]
