Look at all of these bright, shining new faces! There’s even a few less bright, less shining faces, but hey, this city welcomes all types. Chances are, if you’ve just arrived, you're seeing some pretty crazy things, unless you're used to an eye-blinding amount of neon, robots, weird-ass technology, magic, and an omnipresent police force...and hey, if you are, congrats, you're gonna settle in juuuuust fine. But for the rest of you, the Head knows this has gotta be pretty overwhelming, right?

Well, since your quaint individual processing units are probably having a hard time, why not link up with another one? By which the Head means...

Hello, new citizens of Dualis,
and welcome to your monthly Network Adjacency Protocol~!

NAPs are a monthly community networking event similar to the Earth concept of speed dating! Two citizens (new arrivals and old hands alike) are placed at a table together with a handy cue card of queries to help break the proverbial ice. Ask queries and receive results, or ignore the card and yeet yourself straight into a brand new friendship! But don't be too shy, you've only got ten minutes together, and if you just sit in silence for the whole ten, the Network Admins are likely to come supervise and try to repair the uplink through a mild shock to the ol' central nervous system. You might find yourself saying all sorts of unintended facts about yourself if that happens...probably better to just make friends, right? Who doesn’t like friends?!

This month’s event is held at the brand new RoCocoa Cat Cafe, a sparkly new establishment that caters to children and the young at heart with iced and hot cocoa drinks of all kinds, delicious pastries, age-appropriate live music, and of course many friendly kitties who love to lounge in laps. The cats are of all shapes, sizes, and colors, including some who may look a little different from what you expect, or may look like an ordinary cat but are actually anything but ordinary underneath that adorable fur coat. All cats in the cafe are adoptable, too, if you meet a new furry friend and just can’t bear to go home without them!

So pull up a chair, get to know your new neighbors, and enjoy a sugary treat or two with the resident furbabies. You might just meet your new two- or four-legged best friend!

She won't even try to pronounce that one.

"Gotham," she answers instead, a beat later remembering to add "New Jersey." She lost the habit, but she does remember her confusion the first time she met someone who'd never heard of the city.

"All my life. Gross, I know."

He's more appreciative than she'd think, though when she says Gotham those red eyes do widen but not for the reason she thinks.

"Oh, the man I am rooming with is also from Gotham. It does not exists in my world sadly." He figures it's hella sketchy given how Jason seems to be, but who knows.

"Oh, yeah?" She brightens just to know that she doesn't have to give a full spiel on the city.

"Trust me, you're not missing out. So who's your roommate? I figure I know every Gothamite here."

He's curious if its worse than Brownsville but, he doesn't ask, nope. This vampire has some manners.

"I assumed. And his name is Jason. Dark hair, a bit taller than I." A tan he will be forever jealous of. He misses his old complication.

"Oh yeah, I know Jason! He's like, my best friend." Given there are a number of people vying for that spot at the moment, Jason at least qualifies as best guy friend.

"Luckily, I must be then, to meet you then, my dear." He spoke almost as if one of those classic movie monsters but he seemed more amused than anything. "He seems quite a nice fellow."

He definitely has the aesthetic down. She waves off the flattery.

"He can be, when he wants to."

The sad truth was, he talked like this before he though electric shock, chemicals and bats were a good mix to cure his rare illness. Vampire was clearly his destiny.

"I suppose, I should ask then are their other's from your home here?" Honestly he didn't ever care to offer things about himself due to how well known he was back home he always expected the worst. He was proud of himself in that moment though, he was usually a stupid stumbling mess around pretty blondes, but some warning bell screamed in the back of his mind stating to young. How old was Steph? That didn't matter, he's well into his thirties and fells much older. SO he was proud of himself for staying professional.

"Just one." She isn't sure about this world's Cissie, but her version is living in Pennsylvania.

"His name is Tim."

"I have not heard of him, I admit." Idly he wonders if the three are connected but again, he chooses not to answer. It seems odd to bring up. Idly he picks at the cards, he hates when his anxious nature presents itself. "I will admit, I am not sure what else to say with our remaining time. This is not the kind of place I would usually be." as in socializing. He's never been big into that.

"Yeah, he's not very social. He hates this kind of thing." Of course, that hasn't stopped him from coming today, but she doesn't want to go spreading word if he doesn't want to join in.

"We've only got a couple of minutes left," she adds, glancing at her watch. "See any good movies lately?"

"That is completely understandable." He was a vampire, he can understand not being social. He could be when he needed to be but usually he didn't like to.

"I've been watching old horror movies of late, but my best friend is a werewolf and we find it cathartic to laugh at old horror." A vampire and a werewolf. Fun times. "Last new movie I have watched was the Matrix..."

Steph can't help a snicker at the thought of a werewolf and a vampire sitting down to watch Frankenstein together.

"Matrix was pretty cool. Sequels didn't quite live up, but that really says more about the original than anything else."

Oh if Jack was here, he'd probably be doing his best to annoy Michael or make all the pretty girls like Steph smile. He was a great guy outside of moon cycles.

"So I have been told, I have not ventured to try and see any of the others alas. And what movies for you?"

"Not a lot." She doesn't actually go to movies all that often. She doesn't have a lot of free time to start with.

"They're making a new Planet of the Apes. A prequel, I think?"

"...ew, why?" He made a face at that, which looked pretty comical from a man with a flat nose.

Steph grins and shrugs.

"Because nobody makes original movies anymore."

[doesnotsparkle]

"Eh, point." Then the buzzer went off for people to move, he offered his long nailed hand over. "A pleasure to meet you, Miss."

"You too." She shakes the offered hand, then turns to her approaching new partner.
