Chips
WHO: Lorna + Anyone wanting chip experimentation and to have it potentially turned off.
WHAT: Experimenting with turning the chip off, may result in some negative consequences and could result in your chip being turned off.
WHERE: Rick's Bar.
WHEN: End of Feb or begining of March. Can backdate or forward date, very flexible since it was my own failure in Feb in getting it up.
WARNINGS: None at the moment, may be edited.
With all Lorna's learned about the chip taking it out seems like the worst possible option for most people here. Sure, some might be able to make it work. Most though? It'd end up being either immediate death or an ongoing struggle with the language barrier put up. A language barrier would paint an immediate bright sign above someone's head that they didn't need in a place like this. Now, if she could find a way to turn it off, that'd be a completely different story.
Thing is, she'd need test subjects. Doing it on herself was too much of a risk, especially when she had no idea what could go wrong. But, who would be willing to throw themselves as experimentation fodder? And was she really willing to risk other people just to figure out how to get this fucking thing out?
The answer is a resounding yes. So, she'd posted about it on Rick's bulletin and told a few people to meet her at the bar to discuss the options. Or just get straight to mucking around with what's inside their heads. It's not like she had a solid plan formed on what to suggest to people who might show up. Hell, she's not even fully expecting anyone to show up. But, she's there, sulking at the bar with a drink in hand and on foot bouncing uneasily on the floor.
"Didn't really expect anyone to be reckless enough to show up." In this instance reckless was the nicer way of saying stupid.

Sometime the 3rd week of February
"And yet here I am, recklessly agreeing to whatever it is your suggesting." He paused for a moment, looking over to her, eyebrow raised. "What is it you're suggesting, exactly?"

"I have ways of connecting with electronics," there's no hesitation on her part for that explanation despite the fact that it's not precisely accurate. It's not precisely inaccurate either though, so hopefully close enough to the truth works for now.
"If I could play around with them I think I could figure out how to turn the chips off. Or at least turn certain parts off." The key phrase here was 'play around with them'. That's where the problem came in. The truth is she doesn't know for sure if she can get it to work, she can't unless she tries. That also means she's not quite sure what kind of problems may come up.

"Oooh," he adjusts himself eagerly, "how intriguing. And I take it the warning is because you might activate its self-defense protocols or the little electrical jolts they're so fond of sending when we've disobeyed? Or force us to have a nice heart to heart?"

"I don't know what you need to expect at all. It's your brain. For all I know it could short out and leave you a vegetable." It's blunt but it's the truth and she might as well be honest.

"So, how does this go? Anything I should know now?"
no subject
"I'll be honest, I don't know what may happen. So, first question first, are you willing to take that risk?" She wants to get that out of the way before they even go any further, save them both some time if he's not willing to put himself up as a full on guinea pig.

"If you're gonna share what you find out with everyone so we know what to do with them, and help 'em? I'll accept what happens." Adds on after a moment, "I won't hold anything against you. I guess you need to see what happens when they're still in someone, right?"
no subject
"I'll share what I find out the best I can. No point in keeping it all to myself when I could be taken off myself at any point." Disturbing to think about but realistic. She shivers slightly at the thought and puts an arm around herself in a defensive position. She's not one to let others see her fears or emotions at all.
"I have abilities. Where I'm from we're called mutants," she starts the explanation from the beginning. "Mine let me interact with metal and electronics. I think it might let me do something with these things in our head now that we know they're there. The problem is I don't know how they work at all. So I'll have to feel around. Experiment. And I don't know what that may do to you."

"Think it's worth me staying out of the dorm? There's some places in the city or forest -- buildings people don't use. My boss got swapped out, we were pretty close... not really planning to go back to work. You can do what you have to."
Was it worth all that? That level of concern? Tidus didn't know, but he feels like he's signing his own death warrant the more he talks. Expect the worst, but also the best because of it.

"Depends on what happens to you. Maybe nothing will happen and maybe it'll fry your brain." Simple consequences right? Maybe it'll just turn the chip off and everything will be fine. Or maybe it'll fry his brain and leave him a vegetable. Or turn off some brain functions. Who knows really? "Can't really see why you'd have to avoid people though. Unless it fries your brain and turns off your impulse control." And makes him a sociopath.
