[Squall strolls in to the bar without saying hi to Nick for once. He heads straight to the basement where he tacks up a handwritten list of names on the bulletin board.

He presses a hand to the last name in the list, clenches his fist and punches the wall.

It's still to raw after everything. He hates this place.]

[metamorphotic]

[uh oh. nick recognizes the kind of mood squall’s in all too well. she’s not mad he blew past her, but she is pretty concerned. kid’s already wound pretty tight, after all. she asks her coworker to handle the bar for a bit until she gets back and follows squall down into the basement. the shop’s closed today and thus deserted, so it’s just the two of them. she approaches cautiously, concern growing after she catches the punch to the wall.]

Gonna break your hand that way, kid.

[silentnarration]

[He turns to her and awkwardly shakes off his gloved hand to hold it slightly behind him. He's alternated between rage and numbness and sadness so much he's not really sure how he's functioning. He avoids looking at her though.]

I've dealt with worse.

Yeah? Well, that won’t change the broken hand this time.

[she takes a couple more slow steps toward squall, both hands casually shoved in the back pockets of her jeans, and gives the paper a quick glance.]
