we’re ready to make you one of us.

WHO: Open to all Dualizens
WHAT: When Roboclones Attack
WHERE: Anywhere in the city!
WHEN: The night of Oct. 19
WARNINGS: Please use these if applicable! And if you happen to end up dead by roboclone, please fill out the death form!

It’s an ordinary night in Dualis, until it suddenly becomes a very dark and stormy night in Dualis. There hasn’t been a single day of unpleasant weather since any of you arrived, but soon after the sun begins to sink behind the city’s skyscrapers and the neon lights intensify for the night, storm clouds begin to gather overhead and unleash a cacophony of thunder, a deluge of rain, and brilliant spikes of lightning arcing across the sky.

It’s a violent storm, to be sure, but surely severe weather is no challenge in such a technologically advanced city as Dualis, right? As long as you stay indoors, you can keep safe and dry until the storm passes.

Except … less than an hour after the storm begins, the power all across the city goes completely out. All buildings are dark except for the illumination cast by lightning across brick and steel and glass. All electronics - including phones - are dead, all biometric locks are disabled, and no attempts to call, text, or reach the internet or the network succeed. Eerily, the streets are silent and empty.

Under normal circumstances, such a widespread blackout would merely be odd and inconvenient, but tonight, circumstances are anything but normal. About half an hour after the blackout begins, something approaches you, wherever you are. In the dark, you’ll be able to make out that its shape is humanoid, but maybe its motions are jerky and mechanical. As it draws closer and you get a better look, by candlelight or flashlight or flash of lightning, you recognize the face staring back at you.

That face is your own.

The face, like the rest of the body, is likely some degree of incomplete, an incongruous jigsaw of metal and flesh, but it’s definitely yours. And this machine doppelganger’s mission is soon made apparent as it launches a targeted attack on you:

It’s here to kill you.

After nearly four hours, the storm subsides and the power is restored and the city falls back into its normal rhythm. Will you survive until then?

May the odds be ever in your favor, friends.

If she rolls her eyes any harder, they might just fall out and go bouncing across the floor. Her cheeks get puffed up again and she scrunches her nose as she sits up, offering out her busted up knuckles once the knee is pretty well done.

"Hey, I'm not running around looking for trouble from murderbots, alright?" She starts with first, shoulders heaving in an exaggerated shrug, "Not hiding from it either, but. Like I said, someone's gotta fight back before the whole city is demolished."

Then, after a brief, quick second, she exhales heavily, sagging her shoulders as she finally says, "And. Yea... Thanks."

It's not a whole lot, and less wordy than her usual, typically mean, chittering. But she does seem genuine when she looks to his face and tries to make eye contact. She doesn't like needing someone's help, she doesn't enjoy the way it makes her feel...weaker for it. And she'd wholeheartedly insist she's fine, she would've been fine, it just makes a bit more sense to get patched up so she's closer to being tip-top, that's the only reason she's sat here for it. If she hadn't sat here for it, she would have still been entirely fine-!

Yeah, too much to ask her to stay out of trouble. But David pats her uninjured leg and offers a brief smile. At least she's better now.

"Let me see those knuckles so we can get them cleaned and wrapped. Promise to actually be gentle this time."

Because he does care about keeping people safe. And if this is a way he can do it, then he well.

“Such a gentleman.” She teases lightly, sparing another small but real smile as she resumes holding still so he can work.

If she had more time before the power was cut- and any indication she’d be fighting tonight, she would’ve preemptively wrapped her own hands to avoid or at least minimize this kind of damage. Well, wrapped her hands and grabbed a weapon or two. As it was, she’d been looking forward to a lazy night lounging in bed, then maybe going out again in the super early morning hours. So much for any of that.

“You have anything on you or around here weapon-wise?” She asks suddenly, “And that needle doesn’t count, it has to be at least a scalpel or something...”

Gentleman? Hardly.

"No, I don't carry weapons. The body is its own weapon," David answers, taking more gauze to finish wrapping her knuckles. Once that's done he pats her uninjured leg again as he stands.

"Be careful out there. Find a chair or something and break the leg off."

Well, she can get behind that ideal, obviously, given that she literally did just that. Still, the lack of any weapons makes her nose scrunch up slightly.

"I wasn't asking for myself." South replies simply, giving a testing flex of her hands as she stands up with him, "You gonna be fine alone here waiting for people to show up?"

Who needs weapons? His body is one. Except, you know, against machines.

"Oh, you're... worried about me," David smiles, stripping his gloves off and putting them into a trash bag. "Thank you for that. And I will stay here to wait. I don't need to worry about being alone."

South considers insisting she's definitely, in no way, totally not worried about him whatsoever. Maybe she just wants to make sure there's a set of hands around if she happens to need medical help later or shit, that's all the mildly concerned tickle in her gut means. Of course.

But she decides to just nod, shrug again, and be all kinds of smooth and casual. "Well the comms are open again, so, hit me up if something tries to melt your face off or something."

“I’ll keep you in mind. Now go out there and be reckless again. And when you get hurt, haul yourself back here so I can patch you up.”

Because keeping people alive here mattered to him.

She considers her reply just briefly, deciding joking and being a little goofy is a better plan than anything serious or pushy tonight.

"Yes, sir!" She gives a grin and half-assed, lazy salute to him as she starts back out. With all this shit going, a teeny, tiny dash of silly isn't bad. "But I want a lollipop next time, maybe a cartoon sticker, too."

South is tempted to warn him to barricade the door and only let people he knows are human in, but... She's not his mother, he's not a child, and he keeps insisting he can handle himself, so, he'll probably figure it out fine.

"I'll be sure to stock some, just for you," David dismisses with a wave. And honestly, there's no way to guarantee someone is human unless the robots were that messed up as to be obvious. So don't bother telling him to do it. His duty is to protect people by healing them. And trying to keep the robots away.

"You look like a lime lollipop person. I'll make sure there is one."

"I'm holding you to that." Is all she says before she's off again.
