Perhaps with their longevity and healing abilities, he'd taken his people for granted all these years, and Hela had forced him to accept the fragility they all shared. Whatever it was, Loki had realized they could all be gone in an instant, that he'd orchestrated their near extinction twice now.

His life had been the least he could pay.
