The news about the fence had come out while Tidus, Arkady, and Squall had been trying to search the forest grounds for anything of note, if there was anything to be found that had been forgotten over time. But there was interest in the fence, in figuring it out; an interest another had right around the time of Squall's disappearance. An abrupt missing cade that could have been linked to what he was going through after Rinoa had been taken.
Instead...
The true face of the fence is different than what Tidus had been imagining, more a line of poles than the fencing found around the city. But it's the first sign of anything other than the few rundown houses they've gleaned from quick travel, and where they come to pause to investigate. The forest continues on beyond the poles, and if it wasn't for their size, they would almost seem harmless; but they stand erected as warning in of themselves, despite the gaps between each one.
Tidus is quiet at their eventual stop, teleporting by now only slightly disorienting, but his eyes adjust after a few seconds. Losing Squall was difficult, but being sad wasn't what he was here for. They had to find out what they could about this fence -- about anything that could help them in the future.
